VIDEO | Yuna – “I Wanna Go”

Here’s Yuna’s press release for “I Wanna Go”:

June 17, 2013 (Los Angeles, CA) – Malaysian-born songstress YUNA has teamed up with VEVO to premiere her highly anticipated music video for “I Wanna Go.”  “The ‘I Wanna Go’ video was so much fun to shoot,” exclaims YUNA.  “My friends, Julian Schratter, Didi Ramlan and I brainstormed the idea for the video, shot it on the Super8 and the outcome was beautiful!  I hope the fans will enjoy the colours, the city, the sun and the sea just as much as I did!”

“I Wanna Go” was produced by INCUBUS guitarist Mike Einziger, and is featured on YUNA’s most recent release, ‘Sixth Street.’ The five-song digital EP was YUNA’s debut with record label Verve Records, and was released last month.  The EP is currently available for purchase on iTunes, and “Let Love Come Through,” another track featured on ‘Sixth Street,’ can be heard here.

Rolling Stone has championed YUNA as having, “certified indie cred and massive pop potential,” and Complex described her as, “a deeply refreshing addition to America’s musical landscape.”  She’s performed on national television, was a finalist for MTV Iggy’s “Best New Band In The World,” has played both Lollapalooza and Bonnaroo, and has had multiple songs featured in movies and on soundtracks.  Most recently, she appeared on “The Tonight Show With Jay Leno,” where she performed her duet with multi-platinum recording artist OWL CITY, “Shine Your Way,” the theme song in Dream Works Animation’s 3D comedy, THE CROODS.

REMIX | Kanye West – “I’m In It” (DMNDZ Remix)

DMNDZ is a strategic genius by publishing a Kanye remix right now. With all the buzz and anticipation around Kanye’s Yeezus album which drops in four days, the latest news of the tracklist leak will only heighten the popularity of this “I’m In It” remix.

ELECTRONICA | PolyEmory [Album Teaser]

We just checked our inbox and stumbled upon an email from brand new electronica artist PolyEmory. In the email was an embedded YouTube video so we clicked it expecting the typical music vid. Well that was an enormously incorrect assumption on our part. If you’re watching the video and reading this, you’re probably in a similar situation. We’re not entirely sure what we just viewed, but it was awesome. What a completely unique, slightly creepy, totally enthralling experience. It kind of reminded us of a crazy video game advertisement that wasn’t trying to sell anything.

After reaching out to PolyEmory’s press manager for more information about the artist for this post, we were told that he “can’t really say much about PolyEmory besides that PolyEmory produces Electronica and is from Xoetropia. (The first industrialized colony 100 years from present day).” Wait, there’s a futuristic backstory on where he comes from? Here’s more information from his press kit that will provide a few more answers (kind of):

In addition to releasing a full length album at a point in the near future, PolyEmory will also serve as an outlet for visually creative music videos, graphic illustrations, custom built electronics for live performances, etc. The concept of PolyEmory is based around the idea of mechanized nature or a struggle between nature vs. industry. Visual interpretations of this concept can be seen throughout PolyEmory’s visual teaser and artistic branding. The setting of our mechanized capital city, Xoetropia, takes place in the not too distant future and nearly all natural features (trees, animals, mountains) have been mechanically modified in some way.

It’s refreshing to receive projects like this. The whole mysteriousness similar to Daft Punk creates an interesting buzz and it’s not every day we receive an IDM (Intelligent Dance Music) submission. IDM/ambient techno/ambient house are all genre terms that were fairly controversial back in the 90s when IDM first emerged–similar to how EDM is frowned upon today as a categorization of the electronic music movement. It’ll be interesting to see if there’s an emergence of “IDM”-type artists and acts, but for now RTM fans, just take in and enjoy this video for what it is. After all, who doesn’t like to watch “two wolves, a tiger turned ice robot, and some crows–all fighting to survive something?” (Thanks to our friend Ryan for the quote)
