MIXTAPE | Childish Gambino – ‘Royalty’

Donald Glover gave his treat to America yesterday when he released his latest mixtape Royalty. After a busy past couple months with a handful of track releases, we finally have the full 18-track album to dive into. CG opened up his Rolodex for this one, bringing in rappers and producers like Nipsey Hussel, boi-1da, RZA, Ghostface Killah, Beck, and Danny Brown…and let’s not forget the person who gave Donald his biggest break as a writer for 30 Rock…Ms. Tina Fey, who closes out the album with some added hilarity.

With any Gambino album, you know you’re going to get a plethora of witty lyrics rapped over some raw beats and the occasional indie sample. Royalty won’t be for everyone as there aren’t many pop-sounding tracks that Camp had, but any hip-hop advocate will enjoy it.
