Kid Russell is one of our favorite up-and-coming hip-hop artists (with a twist of rock) and just released this video. Kidd sent this description of the song:
“Hash Tag That” is about sharing the good moments in your life and remembering no matter how bad things get “All you have to do is look to the stars cuz [when] life is good you can Hash Tag That!”
Kidd Russell came out and dropped a bomb with his new song “Fade.” We thought we had this rising chill hip-hop Chicago artist all figured out, but then he hit us with this track! We love the anger, the intensity, the rock & roll feel of the song, and the video does a great job visually portraying the lyrics. So often we receive solid songs with poor accompanying music videos which really ruin the songs for us. Not this time. We can’t wait to see what else Kidd Russell has in store for us. Here’s what Kidd had to say about “Fade”:
A song written from my kitchen studio in the foreclosed home I was living in 2 years ago and video shot on a shoestring budget on the backs of a few starving artists. My fans know that many of my songs are written from a point of having little but still enjoying life. Fade was written from that same position but out of frustration, pain, and hardships that I was enduring at the time. I needed to write a song that I could put on in the morning to motivate me to change my situation or at least my mind state for that moment. A song that would tell me to block out what the world was saying and stay the course because if you persevere–no matter what happens–you can hold your head high. This song also serves as a letter to those who have doubted me, stabbed me in the back, ridiculed me, and tried their best to defeat my spirits while I pursued my dream. No matter where you are in life or who you are, you’ll always run into people who don’t believe in you or your dreams. I hope this song gives you some energy and hope to keep pushing forward, don’t give up and NEVER FADE!
Our boy Kidd Russell came out with “Hoodie Season” this week and has gained love for the video from Adele and Beyonce! “Hoodie Season” is a great video and chill, upbeat song that most Midwesterners can relate to. It’s the perfect season between being uncomfortably humid and hot and horribly freezing. Kidd Russell will be doing a show with Radical Something this November at Reggie’s in Chicago, a concert we can’t wait to see. Help a rising artist out and buy “Hoodie Season” from iTunes.
Our Chicago rapper friend Kidd Russell has been very busy lately releasing a music video a week with his Beer & Hip-Hop series. Kidd just finished up an album on the Banana Beat label with pal Cisco Adler producing it, and should be released sometime this fall. He’s got a smooth midwest style with a touch of California influence. Check out his website here. Here are the videos thus far for the Beer & Hip-Hop series:
Kidd Russel dropped a preview today for his upcoming song and video with Cisco Adler titled “Are We Having Fun Yet”. This is his second single release for his upcoming EP with Bananabeat Records, home of Shwayze, Mod Sun, Jonny Polygon, Mickey Avalon and more.
The track has a Beastie Boys summertime feel and the official video will debut around Memorial Day weekend on Vevo and Youtube, and you can count on seeing it as soon as it drops on Raw Tracks Music! You may have also heard the song in the new FREE iPhone/iPad game, Downhill Xtreme, along with 3 other songs of his. We can’t wait to hear Kidd’s collaboration with Adler, and also pay attention for the acoustic album Hoodie Season.
Big things coming up for this guy! Check out his Facebook page and if you’re in the Chicago area May 18th, check him out at Hip-Hop Night at Game Pazzo!
